Getting to Studio San Francisco

The studio is at 2025 McKinnon Avenue in the Bayview, on a working industrial street. It sits inside an active warehouse and creative-arts building with limited exterior signage. The one thing worth knowing before you set off: you come in underneath the overpass, and the entrance is at the far end of the last warehouse on the right, just before McKinnon bends left onto Rankin Street.

Route guide

However you approach, you come in underneath the overpass and finish at the far end of McKinnon Avenue. Pick the street you’re coming from. The diagram is a simplified sketch of the block, not a map — use it alongside the written directions, not instead of them.

Choose your approach

Both approaches pass under the overpass, join McKinnon Avenue, and finish at the same door.

Simplified route diagram of McKinnon Avenue, not to scale McKinnon Avenue runs left to right across the diagram. Toland Street meets it at the left-hand end and can be reached from the north or the south. Selby Street joins it in the middle, with the overpass running above Selby Street; you drive underneath the overpass and turn right at the stop sign onto McKinnon Avenue. A fence runs along the left-hand side as you turn. Warehouses line both sides of McKinnon Avenue the whole way. The studio entrance is the small door at the end of the last warehouse on the right, marked 2025, just before the road bends left onto Rankin Street. Schematic — not to scale. Distances, angles and the number of buildings are simplified. Warehouses line both sides of McKinnon the whole way; only the last one on the right matters.
  1. Drive north on Selby Street and go directly underneath the overpass — it runs above Selby, and passing under it is the way in.
  2. At the stop sign, turn right onto McKinnon Avenue. There is a fence along the left-hand side as you make the turn.
  3. Warehouses line McKinnon on both sides. Keep going all the way to the far end of the road.
  4. The entrance is the small door at the end of the last warehouse on your right, marked 2025 — just before the road bends left onto Rankin Street. If you reach the bend, you have gone a few metres too far.
  1. Toland Street reaches McKinnon Avenue from either the north or the south — either approach works.
  2. Join McKinnon Avenue and follow it towards the studio. You will pass underneath the overpass where it runs above Selby Street.
  3. Warehouses line McKinnon on both sides the whole way. Stay on McKinnon to the far end.
  4. The entrance is the small door at the end of the last warehouse on your right, marked 2025 — just before the road bends left onto Rankin Street.

Parking and arrival

Parking is free, in the open lot right outside the entrance. It is easy to miss: the painted lines have worn away, so when the lot is empty it can look like plain pavement. Look for the yellow posts. The lot is shared first-come with the other businesses in the building, so a space is not guaranteed.

When you arrive

Call or text (415) 326-4531 and wait outside. Someone will come out and meet you at the entrance — you don’t need to find your own way in.

You can also text from here if that’s easier.

Sharing the street

This is an active warehouse area with businesses working around you. Construction vehicles, forklifts and commercial traffic all use the same road and yards, so take it slowly on the way in and keep an eye out while you park and unload.

Hours

The studio is open daily from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 a.m. the following morning, and closed daily between 3:00 and 8:00 a.m. Sessions are booked in advance rather than dropped in on, so your time is confirmed before you travel.
